The World’s Flat? Damn, now we have to worry about falling off the edge again

The topic that Friedman speaks about has long been in discussion. Outsourcing to India is old news. But never the less I have to agree with the man. This new trend is flattening or shall I say shrinking the communications world. I also feel bad for the countries that can’t keep up with this new medium. Who is going to help the little ones, huh? As they say, only the strongest will survive. I’m just hope we can still have a chance at finding jobs once we graduate. -I’m your Huckleberry.

Wikileaks won’t be censored

I did find it interesting that wikileaks was being sued by Swiss government in February about the comments they made. But if they are telling the truth then what’s the problem? Plus, the judge said to shut down the website of wikileaks. So what did the writers of wikileaks do? They just created another site for people to go to for the same information. When it comes to getting out information through the new mediums, you must be more specific because media is always evolving and new ways of communication are constantly being made. I thought that was an interesting case. Check it out for yourself. Later haters.

To buy or not to buy, that is the question

I know that the Mac books are faster now, but shall I wait another couple of months for new programs? What do ya’ll think? “Holla at a playa when you see me in the street trick!”

Respose to what Ryan said.

I can see why you would have us write about what this guy said. I happen to agree with his definition of what journalism is supposed to be. He also mentions that we are finding new mediums to get this information to the public. I have seen this in many cases. We seem to be cutting down on the reading of common print and are using the Internet more for our “getting the news” needs. I like the option of getting my news in as many forms as possible but I believe that newsprint is taking a huge beating and it can only get worse. This includes magazine, not just newspapers. In We the Media they were talking about the use of new mediums. The internet was brought up several times in that reading. As a final thought I would have to say that both parties had a good grasp of what they were talking about. Journalism is always changing. I can only wonder what else the future has in store for us when it comes to gathering and reporting news. Keep your minds open ya’ll. Peace out.

Cluetrain Manifesto

I can see that these people were writing at a time when the Internet was not too popular. But they seem to have a good sense of trying to wake the public of all the updates and give a heads up of what’s to come. Like the example of being able to get more info on companies and products in order to not be scammed. I have been apart of this example. I was offered a job by a company to cash checks out in my name and keep a percentage for my pay. I researched the company and found out it was a scam and later told them to stop sending me info and checks because I wouldn’t have anything to do with them. So I think the people who wrote in the Cluetrain Manifesto were on the right track, even though a lot of what they were saying was common sense. It’s just that nobody really thought about the ideas and wrote them down.

Super Bowl Ads

doritos.jpgbl2.jpgbl1.jpgI am happy to say that I am satisfied with the outcome of the game. Thank you Giants! Now all the hype about Brady being better than Montana can be silenced. Nobody has reached that status yet. Not even pretty boy Brady. Anyways, about the ads during the Super Bowl I have to say that I have a tilting view of them. I enjoyed some and disliked others. I believe that there may have been a better turn out in past Super Bowl ads, but I did have a few favorites this year that were just as good or maybe better than past ads. Here are the names I gave them, times they showed, and why I thought they were good. (And a quote from each).

  1. Bud Light “Invent Wheel” (3rd quarter)- I liked this ad because it was very clever and funny. “I hate new bottle opener!”
  2. Bud Light “Will Ferrell, Semi-Pro” (4th quarter)- This ad was great. Will Ferrell is on top of his comedic game. And he seems to have no problem being risky by letting one of hits testicles partially hang out the bottom of his short-shorts. “Bud Light, suck one.”
  3. Doritos “Big Mouse” (2nd quarter)- My favorite ad. No talking throughout the whole scene, but this was by far the funniest commercial. I’m glad that they mouse didn’t fall for the trap. (Sorry, no quotes from this one).

I recommend watching these. They were the best. Let me know what you think. Awesome guy out.

Old School Ladies

dustbunnies.jpgI know the picture is small but that’s tough luck cause I followed directions. Anyways, these ladies are cool cause I doubt I could move that big a** cylinder. I wonder what life must have been like back in the day when everything was black and white…
