Cheetahs Equals Cheating?

I’m sure that many people have seen the amazing story of the man who has no legs that can run very fast. If not, then here is a little on it. Oscar Pistorius is a double-amputee said to be the “fastest man with on no legs”. He has placed in top 5 in many races including races with no other disabled people. Oscar seems to be one of the first people in the history of the Olympics that could compete even with a handicap as severe as his. But the IAAF have sent him to Germany for a number of tests and struck down his dream of entering the 2008 Summer Olympics. The prosthetic legs he is using is called “cheetahs”. Shaped similar to a cheetah’s legs they use springs to help propel him forward. So which is true? Do the cheetahs give Oscar the edge to be a better runner, or is Oscar just a natural phenom with the gift of speed? Looking at many other blogs I can see the support for Oscar growing. I personally think that more testing should be done so he can still have a chance to compete in this summer’s Olympics. I wonder if people are just worried about being beaten by someone who is handicap. Many of these athletes view themselves as superhuman at times. What will they begin to think if a man with no legs can run as fast or faster than themselves? Pride would be crushed and nobody likes when their pride is line. I am very impressed with Oscar’s drive. If I was in his place I would fight for my place in the Olympics as well. I hope some progress happens so we can see some history. Hey U.S.A., get us medals baby! To read about the story go to: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=466904&in_page_id=1770
