After looking at the site I have to say that I am impressed with those three guys. They may be on another continent, but they do a great job keeping basketball fanatics informed.
Question 2 answer: I do consider the news and information on hoopshype.com to be categorized as journalism. They are collecting data and publishing it, so I think that is a good reason. The style is very similar to traditional sports reporting. They give us stats and stories about players, coaches, owners, etc. You can say that past sports journalism was always big in the mainstream media via ESPN, Fox Sports Net, etc., but the Internet has the capability to be accessed from anywhere, which makes it a very powerful source of information, and a strong medium.
Question 3 answer: The success of Hoopshype.com will definitely change the future of sports journalism. I expect to see a similar form of sports reporting in other fields. Baseball, Football, Tennis, etc. The success of this site will inspire other people to take a sport that many love and give accurate and relative information so everyone can have more choices when it comes to getting sports statistics and news.
Comparison Exercise: Footballdiehards.com is a website dedicated to football stats and news. The set up is similar to that of hoopshype.com. The big difference between these sites is that the reporting is done by people here in the U.S.
